Project Nautanki

It’s exciting that students from Macquarie University chose The Jungle Book as a project and documented the entire process of our performance from the rehearsal room to the stage.

They ghosted the Nautanki team through rehearsals, brainstorming, coordination between operations and lighting, make up, music and choreography, watching and learning how a theatre performance comes to life.

Thanks to Macquarie University’s MCCALL – Department of Media, Communications, Creative Arts, Language and Literature for this amazing collaboration with the community and arts.

The experience was a learning for both, the Nautanki and student teams as they worked in harmony to document a process that will help in planning future courses and study structures.

For Nautanki, its not the first time we’ve collaborated with academia, and are one of the first performing arts organisations who work towards building hands on understanding of behind-the-scenes challenges and practices for students of performing arts.

We respectfully acknowledge the traditional custodians of the lands and waters of NSW, and all Aboriginal Elders, past, present and emerging, and their continuing cultural, spiritual customs, storytelling and practices.

As a noteable theatre company Sydney, Nautanki is committed to honoring diverse narratives and fostering a culturally inclusive community through our stage performances.
