A dance theatre production “Bunty Barber” will explore and address social issues within the context of South Asian barber shops, particularly in suburbs like Parramatta-Harris Park-Blacktown. The project aims to challenge misogyny, and stereotypes and promote a more inclusive and equitable society.
“Bunty Barber” project touches on the LGBTIQA+ angle of toxic misogyny inside an Indian Barbershop. Conceived as a dance theatre, this project showcasing in December 2024 will foster innovation and provide opportunities for artists to explore new forms of expression through dance.
A work-in-progress showing will be on 18th, 19th & 20th December 2024 at Riverside Theatre.
The project is supported by AURORA Group
Ruby Foundation, Blacktown City Council, City of Parramatta Council and GiveOUT.
