The story writing challenge on the theme of ‘SHAME’ concluded in end April with interesting submissions that were presented in a range of literary genres.
In addition to short stories, a poem, story concepts and a play were submitted, all offering challenging perspectives to the original concept.
From seemingly real life situations to scenarios that are only too common from a domestic and family violence perspective, the submissions were original, unpublished and offered insightful and revealing treatments of the theme.
Indian (Sub-Cont) Crisis & Support Agency (ICSA) and the Nautanki Theatre Company (NTC), supported by Blacktown City Council and Blacktown Arts spearheaded the initiative.
Discussions are ongoing to develop the finalist submissions into formats for theatre productions, short films, a book or monologue series.
The winners will be announced shortly.
